Grand - Harvest

Welcome to the Grand Harvest of the Old Lake Festival The Old Lake of Tata is the oldest artificial lake of Hungary. The Old Lake Grand Harvest was a social event even int he 1900’s. It lured the attention not only of the fihermen, but of the wider society of the region. Nowadays, the harvest was enriched by gastronomial and cultural festival organised by the Mezőgazdasági Ltd. of Tata.
Th festival which longing the tourist season even for October, is going to tak place at 14-16th October, 2011. The main motif of the feast, the water-fish-nature philosophy is deeply rooted in other festivals and tradition of the city.
The Grand Harvest contains the unique event of the magnificent harvest (a 400 meter long pulling net us used in the drained lake bed), the fishmarket, the contest of the famous Hungarian Fishsoups, a flea-market and some other cultural events. Visitors could have the chance to get aquitained with the traditional hard life of fishermen with its beauties. This is a great opportunity to get closer to the nature and the waterworld, through the showcased tools of the fishermen, the secrets of this profession, and the fishermen’s hut.
